This article explains how to set your organization’s currency and details how it is used in your fundraisers.
The primary currency setting controls the currency used to collect and store funds. It also determines which currency is displayed on your fundraising page, including the fundraising progress bar, prices, the checkout cart, and receipts.
Before You Begin
Your payment processor controls which currencies your donors can use to pay. All customers must set up funding with Stripe or PayPal to process credit card donations.
Follow these steps to set your primary currency
- From the Settings menu, click on Payment Processing.
- Select your currency from the drop-down menu under the Choose the primary currency for your DoJiggy account heading.
- Click the Save button
How your primary currency is used
All your fundraisers will use your organization’s primary currency by default, but you can still change the currency used by each fundraiser when you set it up. Here’s what will happen when you set your fundraiser’s primary currency:
- All amounts on your fundraiser will be displayed in your primary currency ($, € ). This includes the amount raised on your fundraiser and the amounts shown during your donors’ checkout process.
- Donors’ credit cards will be charged in the primary currency you’ve set for your Campaign. Donors can still donate to your fundraiser in different currencies via their credit card, but cardholders whose currency is different from your primary currency may be subject to foreign transaction fees.
- The funds raised on your Campaign will be transferred to your bank in your primary currency. To avoid exchange fees and ensure your payment processing fees are calculated correctly, ensure you have a bank account linked to Stripe or PayPal that uses the same currency as your primary currency.
