Question
Is DoJiggy subject to the California Consumer Privacy Act?
Answer
The DoJiggy.com platform is not subject to the CCPA. Per CCPA regulations, only certain businesses are required to comply with the act. At this time, DoJiggy does not meet any of the thresholds required by the law.
Set to take effect January 1, 2020, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), considered one of the most expansive U.S. privacy laws to date, places limitations on the collection and sale of a consumer’s personal information and provides consumers certain rights with respect to their personal information.
The CCPA applies to certain businesses, including any for-profit entities that collect consumers' personal data, and which do business in California, and satisfies at least one of the following thresholds:
- Has annual gross revenues in excess of $25 million;
- Buys or sells the personal information of 50,000 or more consumers or households; or
- Earns more than half of its annual revenue from selling consumers' personal information.
